The finca is located in the municipality of
Berzocana in an area known as 'las Villuercas' which is a relatively
unknown area of Extremadura offering a rich and varied cultural and
natural environment.
The landscape of the area is singularly beautiful as it is heavily wooded by a profusion of cherry trees, oak forests, chestnut trees, cork oaks, to name but a few of the species to be seen. There are waterfalls, steep cliffs and hilly landscapes known as 'dehesas' with different varieties of oak. The ornithological diversity of the area has made it worthy of being nominated as an IBA (Important Bird Protection Area) and also as a LIC (i.e. place of special community interest).
From your accommodation at the finca you can
opt for spending your leisure time on the property visiting the nearby caves
that house prehistoric paintings or looking at the old shacks once used by
the shepherds. Or you can look for tracks of roe deer and boars, watch vultures
and many other wonderful ornithological rarities that will delight any birdwatcher.
Or you can venture deep into the oak forest or just enjoy the magnificent
views from our porch and terrace.
Another possibility is to combine your stay at the finca with a visit to the
major tourist locations of Extremadura such as Guadalupe,
Trujillo, Cáceres,
and Mérida.
